1 cup flour
1 cup whole-wheat flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup Hershey's Cocoa
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups light brown sugar
1 cup milk
1 cup boiling water
Sift the flours, baking powders, cocoa and salt.
Rub in the oil and mix till smooth.
Whisk the eggs till frothy. Add the sugar and
vanilla and whisk till thick.
Add to the flour and blend till smooth. Mix in
the milk. Add the water and blend.
Spoon into two greased 9-inch square baking tins.
Bake at 350 deg-F for 30-35 minutes. Remove to a
wire rack and cool.
Serve plain or with whipped cream; or frost with
vanilla icing and grated chocolate.
